תקציר

THE SAGES examines the unique contributions and lasting philosophical messages of the Jewish sages (Chazal). It offers fresh perspectives on the sages’ individual characters, the historical contexts in which they lived, and the creativity they brought to the pursuit of Jewish wisdom.

Volume I: The Second Temple Period examines the teachings of the Men of the Great Assembly, Yosi Ben Yoezer, Hillel, Shamai, Rabban Gamliel the Elder, Rabban Yochanan ben Zakkai and other sages of the Second Temple Period. Volume II: From Yavne to the Bar Kokhba Revolt and Volume III: the Galilee Days are forthcoming.
